NEW YORK – January 31, 2017 – For 45 years, the ) has proudly shared our nation and the world with guests. Through this, safety and security have always been the highest priorities of our members. It is also of paramount importance that the United States preserve its longstanding tradition as a welcoming and hospitable destination.
The travel and tourism industry is a major economic engine in the US, representing more than $2.1 trillion and supporting 15.1 million jobs (as reported in 2016). The Active Members of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø contributed nearly $15 billion to the U.S. tour operator industry in 2016, representing 8.6 million individual travelers.
It is the hope of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø that a thoughtful approach will balance the issues surrounding security while not jeopardizing the livelihoods of millions of American citizens both here and abroad. ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø will monitor the evolving situation to provide information to our members and continue to work with federal agencies and the administration to minimize inconvenience to their guests.
